I think it would be a good idea to make some tutorials free to encourage people to get used to the site and have a go before spending a lot of cash

Hello

We have spent a long time working out preview lengths for NPI as we also wanted to give people as much of a trial before spending any money, we settled on 1m 30s for Full ones and 15 - 25 for Lite as this felt like a good flavour of the lessons.

We have just cut a 4 min trailer of a few lessons also and we'll get this up soon.

We will be adding some free preview content soon, we are just getting as much feedback as possible in this beta stage and then we'll keep adding functionality to make it the best possible service.

thanks, take care

To be honest..I thought the preview gives you a pretty good idea of what you are getting for your money!!

and £1.99 for a lite is not alot of money as you get the video as well!!!

I tend to agree, the previews are a decent size, and heck will allow you to play part of the song quite easily. Then if you like what you can play with the preview you can go buy the full song. Seems fair to me Smile

i suppose a 'free track of the month' a bit like how Itunes works could be a good promotion, but you'd have to find a willing artist.

I seem to remember that the old coke music site used to allow you to listen to a song once all the way through before you bought it for about 10 pence. maybe a similar setup could work here where you could pay a nominal amount to watch a lesson the once before either buying it or watching another?

I dunno its just a thought

@Jools: It's not a bad idea but it's way too complicated to implement adequately imho.

And seriously, unlike you want to buy all the different instruments for a song it's not so expensive. And even then, it's about as close as possible to a home tutor which fees would be more expensive anyway.

Free tutorials are valid but if you are going to provide a taster free I would suspect that would be best placed at starter level.

Once you are up to speed on these things spending a couple of quid is never going to be an issue.

As for playing through once, I have to play devils advocate Evil or Very Mad and say that lays you wide open to piracy.

A free taster tutorial would be good, so that people can see the level and quality and style of the tutorials before they buy.

it's not like this site costs a lot of money so maybe longer previews as opposed to free tutorials. I would like to see more old school stuff though. Maybe a community video section as long as copyright issues can be worked out, infact i'm going to start my own petition right now.

I reckon there should be a couple of free one's.
I went to buy one earlier, and my card doesnt work on here Sad .
So I'm getting a new one Smile
But a free one or two for new members to try out wouldnt be all bad.

Hi mlculwell

Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. We hope the following goes some way to answering your question.

We would love to feature The Smiths. The songs you mentioned would be perfect (As well as many more). And some tutorials from Johnny Marr would be amazing!

Over the next 12 months we're aiming to add a huge and diverse range of music across a range of instruments and The Smiths are very much on our minds as a 'Must have' band. We are looking to add content as soon as we can and will of course let you know when it goes live.

In the meantime there is currently quite a bit of morrissey material available on the site which we hope will keep you going until then.

Best
Adam
