Hi Guys,

A few weeks back, the Arts Council ran a great competition where one lucky winner had the chance to spend a day in London with the illustrious Now Play It team, for a live, 1 on 1 music lesson on the instrument of their choice. In addition, the lesson was filmed, cut and edited to the usual NPI standards so that the winner could take the tutorial home to practice from and as a nice memento of the day.

13 year old Charlotte was the competition winner and really made the most of the activities lined up for her! As an accomplished pianist, we gave her a bonus opportunity to professionally record one of her pieces live in probably the most renowned studio in the world, with great guidance from two house engineers. This can be quite a daunting prospect, but Charlotte ignored any nerves and rose to the challenge like a seasoned pro, recording a beautiful track as her parents proudly looked on.

After a break for lunch in the sun, the NPI team were all set up and ready to shoot Charlotte’s personal music lesson – and what better instrument to choose to learn than the drums? Only the best for Charlotte, we hired in two top-of-the-line kits specially for the tutorial and of course, our friendly and experienced NPI drum tutor, Christian, who gave her a great beginners lesson, teaching her one of her favourite pop songs. Charlotte exuded great musical pedigree and was soon executing the beats with precision and skill.

We wish Charlotte and her family all the best, and hope she continues to enjoy the drums – we’ll keep an eye out for her when she’s headlining Glastonbury festival in a few years!
